Liberator, Redeemer, Emancipator,
(The terms roll easily off our lips.)
For your power that notices,
your passion that descends,
your freedom that liberates,
We thank you.

We hold in your presence all those bondaged,
in fear and despair,
in poverty and weariness,
in crime, war, and violence,
in narcissism and self-indulgence.

Work your wonders among us,
in your strength like war,
in your gentleness like nursing,
in your abiding love like forever.

Work your wonders,
we pray in the name of Jesus.

Amen.

  1. Please pray for my daughter, the one who moved in with us a few weeks ago. She and my grandkids are no longer living in our home, but in a small burg nearby. Her husband is on a short-term job in Oklahoma.

My grandkids have been in 2 schools since they moved here, and I found out yesterday that my daughter pulled them out (it was just too hard and they didn’t like it) and plans to homeschool them until the end of the year. She doesn’t even have her GED, and previously wasn’t able to help her oldest with her math homework. Plus, she’s talking about moving back to Oregon in the fall. Long story short, the grass is always greener everywhere else. I fear for my grandkids. They’ve never known what it means to be “settled,” and have no sense of perseverance whatsoever.

I will be going to see her tomorrow, and plan on confronting her on these issues. Please pray that the lightbulb will click on, and that she know that my concern is out of love.

  2. Capt. K, Prayers here. May God bless you with much wisdom as to what to say and much grace cover you both.

  3. PRAISE!~

For the past few months you have prayed for my mom who has cancer (stage 4) and for an opportunity to visit us. Thank you all for praying last week when she was feeling so poorly after arriving. The past week has been more than we ever dared to dream. Sweet times for us all. I am so thankful for this opportunity for my mom to see where I live, to visit our ministry outreaches and meet some of our friends here.
Her doctors never thought she would make this trip, so we are thanking God for His mercy on us all and His abundant blessings!
    Thank you all for praying.

  4. Would you guys please pray for Dewd and me? It looks like he is going to be gone another 2 months with his mama, and it’s been a long time already. It’s hard for him to be away so long. Thanks a bunch.

  5. You got it gomergirl.

I am glad you have family who can help you out, but I know it can be tough living with others, when you want to be setting up your own little nest.

    Blessings to you.

  6. I need some income…the part time job ain’t cutting it and the hole I’m in is more like a canyon.

I’m trying to get the book finished as well as continuing to look for a better job.

    Intercession would be greatly appreciated.

This season has taken me out…

  7. Praying for you Michael. I was reading about God’s providence in your posts on the other link…….you have encouraged me to pray and believe He is in control for your needs and He will take care of you. Yet, I know it is so tough in that “waiting room.” Praying my friend.

  8. Thank you, Nonnie!

  9. Capt. K….praying for your conversation with your daughter and that God would soften her heart before you get there.

Captain … praying for His comfort, strength, wisdom & healing power to be made clear in your family …

  13. Could still use prayer concerning finances. Among other things I’m researching various ways of getting my children’s books printed in hardcopy in a cost effective way so I can get them … along with my art prints & greeting cards into lighthouse shops. I think I’m close to getting it worked out once again … but I thought I was here before & it didn’t work out … so … prayer greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  14. gomergirl … praying …

  15. Praying, Nancy!

  16. Nancy, praying that I will one day see your work at Lighthouse Depot.

  17. Thanks Nonnie … greatly appreciated. I’m feeling a bit swamped while trying to decide what way to proceed … hoping a clear path will start to show up in all this research.

  18. Thanks Captain! :-)

gomergirl Would you guys please pray for Dewd and me? It looks like he is going to be gone another 2 months with his mama, and it’s been a long time already. It’s hard for him to be away so long. Thanks a bunch.

Nene Her dad has been released from the hospital, but had a scare in the parking lot where he hit the brake and the gas and almost collided with some cars. He was admitted to a nursing home. Nene says: “My dad needs prayer for all of this…for his health, (blood clots) kidneys, and for peace in an entirely new situation….and salvation. He is soooo overwhelmed, he is crumbling, and it is killing me…. have mercy on him Lord.”

Randall Asks us to pray for Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani. Here is a wiki page on him for information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youcef_Nadarkhani

Phil / Greece Keep Phil N in prayer as he is in Greece (although not Athens), and pray for the people of Greece in all their frustration and turmoil right now.

Allan / Erunner Pray for him as he struggles with panic attacks and anxiety and fear. Lift our dear brother up as he goes through these trials…

BrianD He would like us to pray for direction and guidance for him this year regarding his job, and God’s guidance on possibly changing careers. Pray as well as he has left the church he has been a member of for quite some time. Pray for a new church home for him. Update:“Work is getting progressively worse and worse. Not like it was before; I get along with everyone pretty well. But it’s getting more and more stressful, and there are other things that I don’t want to try to get into at the moment, not the least because my brain is half-fried right now. I’m not in a position to just up and leave, but I’m really frustrated over the way things are going.”

DMW After selling his car and Harley to pay off medical bills, DMW has found a possibility for medical insurance. Pray that this will go through so he and Debbie can get the care they need.

Cap’n Kevin Kevin’s daughter and her family have moved in. Pray for all the emotional and physical transitions as they learn how to live together. UPDATE: Kevin says this: “Please pray for my daughter, the one who moved in with us a few weeks ago. She and my grandkids are no longer living in our home, but in a small burg nearby. Her husband is on a short-term job in Oklahoma.

Michael My hours have been cut drastically after the holidays…so…I need another job. Also pray for the time and wisdom to get the book out in the next couple of weeks, if you would. UPDATE: Continue to pray, here is Michael’s update: “I need some income…the part time job ain’t cutting it and the hole I’m in is more like a canyon.

I’m trying to get the book finished as well as continuing to look for a better job.

    Intercession would be greatly appreciated.

This season has taken me out…”

Nancy Could use prayer … we need a financial miracle. “Could still use prayer concerning finances. Thanks!”

mkNew prayer request for income. Our business is finally to the all time low — not enough to even pay the overhead to keep it running. No more savings to dip into and we were denied a line of credit to float us. We can’t even refinance our house, and it’s almost paid off. Unreal, but I consider that a blessing, actually, not to get into any more debt.

I’ve had a second job working at the school, but I’m making less than minium wage. It’s not enough. So I need another part-time job or to find something that pays better. Putting together my resume today and battling some serious fear and stress.

God is good all the time…that’s what I have to keep reminding myself as my faith is being tested once again.

Centy Pray for wisdom as he deals with walking some in his congregation through trials. Pray as well for insurance for he and his family.

Filbertz Continue to pray for his family as his daughter Amber is back with them. pray for her especially as she had to leave her children…pray for all the transitions.

Linnea Pray for her parent’s salvation…her dad is doing much better since the surgery. Also, pray for her as she has been “Having a hard time tonight with a lot of things…old friendships that smack of legalism, insecurity, weariness….prayer would be welcome. Thanks…”

Also…”Could you all pray for Ginnie? She has multiple health problems that limit what medications the docs can give her. Right now, her kidneys and blood pressure are a problem. She’s had a rough go, with among other things, losing a 10 year old son in a drowning accident at a family reunion. Thanks…”

Nonnie Nonnie’s mom made it to England..pray for them as they continue to site see and visit….she has had a bit of feeling bad, but overall doing well. Pray her strength continues. UPDATE: So glad to post this update and praise from Nonnie: “For the past few months you have prayed for my mom who has cancer (stage 4) and for an opportunity to visit us. Thank you all for praying.”

brian He has been very frustrated with the Evangelical church and how they have acted toward those with mental illness, etc. He writes: ” I have tried but I find myself more angry with all the stuff I read and see and at times caused. I have been attending a new spiritual community but it is as far removed from the historic Christian faith and I feel like I am betraying God. Not by going there more then by my hypocrisy .” Pray for wisdom for him and for an ability to let go of his anger.

Reuben His step father passed away…he was a strong Christian. Pray for the wife he leaves behind, and all their family.

Randall Pray for his wife and daughter Rachel who are battling colds. His wife especially is having a tough time getting over this.

London Pray for her as she just lost her job, very unexpectedly. pray for all the emotions involved in that as well as means needed for a new job.

Papias Pray for his mom. Her MRI procedure went well, but se is talking with surgeons and plastic surgeons to have surgery, possibly this week.

  24. Update: I’m doing a lot better emotionally now that the initial shock has worn off a bit. Not freaking out in panic or walking around stunned any more.

I’m up for a gig that would be a perfect fit for my skill set and in a location I know well and would like to work again…please pray that it works out for me to land that role.

Thanks for the prayers and support through this odd turn of events.

  25. Prsying for that perfect fit , London.

  26. Thank you, Sarah!

  27. My pleasure, Michael. I’m hoping to get back in here and spend more time “praying” in type…we’ve had a very crazy week. Prayers appreciated for Steve as he’s working on an ulcer with work. We’re thankful for the job, but need things to settle a little.

  28. Thanks for all the prayers for my family. Sarah, feel free to take down my request above. We are continuing to heal and doing well.

New prayer request for income. Our business is finally to the all time low — not enough to even pay the overhead to keep it running. 29. Thanks, I do Pray for you all, just so you know. I just don’t comment here usually. I mostly lurk or am on facepants.

  30. Nonnie, I breathed a sincere sigh of relief hearing about your mom!!! Soooo happy!!!

Kevin, I have been praying for your pain still (I hope you are better ) and now will pray for the conversation with your daughter. May the Lord give her wisdom and her heart be sparked.

Continuing to pray for God to heal, comfort and provide for this family. Michael, please know you are in my prayers….

Thank you all for the prayers for my dad. From what I understand his legs/groin are filled heavily w/fluids. He is still in the nursing home, and will be having a liver scan tomorrow, tues. Thank the Lord for flyer miles as I will be going there in a month and a half. He needs Jesus; that is my main prayer, and to be as comfortable as possible.

  31. Nene…praying for your trip and for your dad.

Lord….some mornings it seems we come to You so quickly with our hearts overflowing with prayers. Some prayers of needs, some of thanksgiving…some of hope and some of fear. Some mornings we come more slowly. Our hearts awaken at a mediated pace and we measure our words.

That is this morning for me.

    Still…we come.

    We seek You.

We know that we need You. We know that this morning we are awakened, slowly maybe, to yet another day because of Your grace. Some of us need that grace simply to get out of bed. There are challenges before us whether they are physical or emotional or spiritual and they bear like a weight around us. It is difficult.

Ease the weight for these friends. Raise them up today and encourage them. Strengthen those who are frail physically. Strengthen those who are frail emotionally. Strengthen those who are weighed down with responsibilities and expectations.

Lift them up and draw them to Yourself. Remind them from where their help comes. Remind them of Who You are. Remind them of who they are….in You.

Others of us awaken with a light spirit…with joy and with expectation. Be with these as well. Rejoice with them and carry their songs. Lift their praise and let us hear their testimony. Encourage others through those who are in the midst of joy. Open our eyes when we are burdened to see what they see…and to rejoice with them.

Be with each today. Be with Nonnie’s mother who is feeling some pain today….thank You for the wonderful time they are having. Strengthen her today and please continue to bless their time together.

Be with Nene’s dad. Strengthen him as well and care for him through the nurses and attendants. Bring people alongside him who know You well. Speak to his heart and draw him to Yourself. I pray that You would lay the foundation these days, built on all the prayers that have been lifted for him, and prepare him for Nene’s visit. Use this time, Father, to draw him to Yourself.

Be with BrianD today. Give him wisdom and encouragement on what he needs to do regarding work. Open doors for him and help him to make the connections he needs to make. Guide him as well in regards to a church family. I pray that he will find a place where he can feel at home and also know that he can serve and be part of the community.

Be with Kevin and his daughter. Praying that the conversation went well if it has happened, and praying that his daughter truly does understand the concern comes from love. Praying for these grandkids as well that they will be protected in all of this. Be with all in this situation. Give Kevin the patience and the strength he needs to confront his daughter, and Father, please guide his words in a way that she can hear.

Be with gomergirl and dewd. Cover the whole situation with Your presence, Father. I pray for her as she remains at home along for a longer time, that You will comfort her and fill her time. That You will bring friends and activities that will ease the loneliness. I pray for him that he will have the patience and the strength to minister to his mom and be with her.

Be with Michael. Provide the hours he needs or another position. Provide for his needs, Father. Be with him as he figures out this book, I pray that the rest of the process will go smoothly and that You will be glorified through this and Michael’s needs will be fulfilled.

Be with Filbertz and his family. I pray that Amber is feeling loved and that there is peace in their home. Praying for wisdom for Filbertz and his wife and for comfort for Amber as she is away from her children. Praying for all involved.

Be with Jlo as she continues in this job and wonders what to do next…praying for wisdom if she should accept an offer to stay or if she should move on.

Be with Nancy and her family. I pray that all the details of getting her work into the stores will come together. Her paintings are so beautiful! Praying that the way will be made and that she will be able to see an income from this work come through.

Be with Linnea. Father, so many prayers have been offered for her parents, they are washed in prayers….would You call them to Yourself. Would You move in Your Spirit and call them. Today as they go about their day would You bring to mind the words that have been shared, the Truth of Who You are and would You move in their hearts. Minister as well to Linnea and the frustrations she feels and the weariness. Be with her friend Ginnie who has suffered so much….I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child….be with her and strengthen her body. Strengthen her spirit as well and comfort her.

Be with Centy as he ministers to his congregation. Give him great wisdom and patience and compassion. Give him gentleness and boldness in measure that is needed and fill him with discernment. Bless his congregation through him and him through his congregation. Be glorified in that congregation and raise up men and women who truly love You and who are witnesses in their community.

Be with brian as he struggles to be understood and find a community where he can worship and serve and be understood. Be with him and guide him to just the right place. If he is in a place that You would not have him, give him wisdom to know. Bring people alongside him who will encourage and bless him and who will strengthen him.

Be with Reuben’s mom as the days pass by since his step-father passed away. In the days now that the clamor has quieted and she is more alone with her thoughts…give her peace and encouragement and comfort. Fill her home with a silence that brings comfort not loneliness. Remind her again and again of his love for her and his great testimony. Be present with her in a clear way in these days.

Be with Randall and his family as they struggle with colds…clear their lungs and their bodies and strengthen them.

Be with London, Father. Thank You that You have brought her through the shock of losing her job, and I pray that You will now make a new way. Bring the right connections and the right interviews and the right people along and provide for her needs. Encourage her heart in this time and enliven her vision of what she might do. Bless her today, Father.

Be with Papias’ mother as she continues through the process of dealing with her cancer. Strengthen her and comfort her. Cast out all her fears. Father, heal her. Make her whole and strong and be glorified through her in this time.

Father….this is not just a list. This is not our wants tacked on the wall for You to see.

Each name…each story….each request. So much is behind them. Fill these words with life and hear not just the words of my prayer, but the heart. Hear the requests that are lifted alongside and that give flesh and life to these requests. Fill the homes these requests represent with an awareness that they are not overlooked or forgotten…they are carried before Your throne.

This is not just a mindless endeavor. We beseech, You…oh Great God. Move in the midst of our friends’ lives. Heal and strengthen and comfort and provide.

Each name. Carry it with love. Hear the story and the request. These all listed long to know You more deeply and to honor and glorify You. Hear that cry above all else. Be in our midst today Father and may we hear You and know You. May we be filled with joy in the knowledge that we are Your children. We are called by name by You and we are not overlooked. Bless each here today, Father.

  32. Would also really appreciate prayers for my Steve….he has had an insane work load of late and a lot of outside commitments. We have something every night this week and he is teaching through Colossians starting this week at home group. This morning he has come down with a cold and sounds miserable.

Please pray that this cold would not stick and he would feel well quickly!

  33. Praying for Steve and that the Lord would carry him through this week…

Praying, too, for Nonnie’s Mom, who doesn’t feel good today…

  34. Prying for all this morning.

  35. make that praying……

  36. It is rare I am able to post so early in the morning….just spending time in prayer this am and reading here….Lord help Steve get through this day, Nonnie’s momma, and those in need here….strengthen us Lord…

  37. My mom is going in for her mastecomy tomorrow so I would apprecite prayers on her behalf. I would also like to be able to share the gospel with her through this time.

    Thanks.

  38. Praying with and for my beloved blog family today.

  39. Papias…thanks for the update, we will be praying.

  40. Don’t know where to put this. I chose here because I think it’s a praise. I am a greedy little participant of this blog… taking the best of all of you and applying it to my life. I am so grateful for each one here who has been a part of forming who I am today. I had to share this, because I am overwhelmed this day with gratitude for all of you. Thank you for investing in me. You have changed my life. Sorry if this seems vague. In my heart it is very pointed and words aren’t quite efficient in supporting the sentiment.

  41. Nomans, :)

To be contrary: for so long, especially early on, you gave to us…the gift of your prayers, and your concern, and your encouragement and your love. I never saw you as a ‘greedy little participant’, but it was we who took from you: receiving your prayers and encouragement, knowing that someone really would bring our concerns and worries before the Throne.

  42. Thank you Sarah.

  43. Nomans…I’m with BrianD you have given far more than you have taken. Still, I hear what you are saying…

  44. Papias..praying for your Mom

Could you all pray for Jeff (my de-facto boss) and me, in response to him? I’m not sure what is up, but he has been especially difficult and unkind lately. I suspect something is up, but don’t know what it is. He is a believer.

    Praying also for Pastor Youcef…

  45. Papia, I saw the request for your mom at work….she’s been on my mind/heart all day.Praying for you as well Papias…

Normans, I hear you…there are no words to describe lives changed here….like mine too, and…by no means are you ever greedy! :) love nene/nancy

    Praying for Jeff….

    Pastor Yocef….Lord hear our prayers…

  46. Praying for Papias’ mom this morning….

Praying that the attendants and the nurses and surgeons and every staff member she encounters will treat her with dignity, respect and compassion. Praying that they will know her as a person who is loved and cared for..

Praying that as she has this surgery and deals with all the thoughts and fears and realities and challenges of this cancer that her awareness of the eternal will blossom. Praying that there will be the right moments for Papias’ to share the Gospel and that she will hear…that God will move and call her to himself and she will be saved. Praying that God is present through this whole time with Papias’ family.

  47. Praying for us today as we enter the Lenten season (or, for Xenia and the others in Orthodox circles…as they near it! ;) ). Praying that our spirit is enlivened and our thoughts are a little different than normal. Praying that God breaks into our comfort zones and whether we fast or not, whether we intentionally seek something different…that He brings something different.

Praying that as we walk toward Easter our senses are sharp, our prayers are colored with the reality of a Risen Savior.

  48. praying for Papias’ mom…..praying for our list…

  49. As I just posted on Facebook…two ordeals come to an end.

I just landed a great job and the book is at the publishers.

    Praise the Lord!

  50. Hooray!!!!!!!!!!

  51. Michael…that is fantastic news. Praise God, truly. Your walk toward Easter will be praises all the way!

    Father…thank You.

Thank You for sustaining, thank You for providing.

    Thank You for surprising.

In the midst of the dryness, in the midst of the silence…thank You for breaking through.

Would You do so for the numerous names that come to our hearts even as we read this praise? The weary souls we know who are so eager to shout the same praises?

Be with Your children this night.

Remind us that You do still come, that You do still sustain and provide. Remind us that You intercede on our behalf and that we witness Your willingness to do so as we walk toward Easter.

Quiet our souls this night from the noise that is distraction. Quicken us to hear the names You stir our hearts to think of and to pray for.

Quiet the fears and the restlessness and quicken the hope and the peace.

Refresh Your children…..and it is with such joy to hear that Michael leads the charge of the refreshed. Oh, thank You, Father. May his joy be ours and all to Your glory.

  52. Thank you, Sarah…it’s been a long time coming, but spring may have arrived. :-)

  53. YES!!! Michael got a job! Thank You, LORD! We always knew spring would arrive at 11:59!

    Congratulations, Michael!

  54. big relief and rejoicing for Michael. That is great news.

  55. Wonderful news Michael!! Thank you Lord!!

  56. Thanks, all…at least we are relatively assured that there is a spring. :-)

  57. Thanks, Ryan!

  58. “Refresh Your children…..and it is with such joy to hear that Michael leads the charge of the refreshed. Oh, thank You, Father. May his joy be ours and all to Your glory.” amen, Sarah

  59. Michael, as I read your job testimony, I was reminded of Psalm 126.

  60. When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who tdream.
2 Then our umouth was filled with laughter,
    and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then they said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
    3 The Lord has done great things for us;
    we are glad.
4 Restore our fortunes, O Lord,
    like streams in the Negeb!
5 Those who sow in tears
shall reap with shouts of joy!
6 He who goes out weeping,
    bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
    bringing his sheaves with him.

  61. Praise the Lord Michael, been praying for you.

  62. Praying for Alex, he is on such a tare, not sure what is going on in his life. You know Lord and I trust him (alex) to You.

  63. Ya know, I pray for Alex daily. Yet I find my pray time directed more towards his wife. The Holy Spirit leads me there. Alex is like a whirl wild off in many directions, yet focused on a set of dismantling. Seems to me his wife is left gathering up the pieces of the whirl wind, I imagine she is worn out.

I pray that she can be the stable factor and run the marathon with her husband. The one that Alex has called her to run.

  64. Praying for Alex here as well….jlo that’s probably a good prayer.

Praying as well for Nonnie and her mom…hoping that they are still having a good vacation together and that her mom is strengthened and feeling well. Praying for such great memories to be stored up and for laughter and joy to fill them all.

Praying as well for Michael this morning…for him to awaken with rejoicing. What a wonderful thing.

Praying for the Justice Conference that is about to begin…for hearts to be stirred and visions confirmed and for encouragement and strengthening and worship. Praying for all the right connections to be made between people who could help each other.

Praying for Nancy this morning as well…that all is coming together for her to be able to sell her paintings and her books, for finances to be eased and for stress to be alleviated. Praying for her creativity to continue to flow.

Praying for Nomans this morning and her boys, for them to have great peace in their home when her husband is gone. For strength for the boys and for strength for Nomans, and for strength for her husband. Praying that someday soon he will be able to be home all the time again.

Praying for Capt Kevin this morning. For wisdom and an ability to communicate with his daughter. Praying for her heart to be open to hear rebuke, which is never easy, and for the kids to be made strong in their situation. Praying for the teachers and the other kids that Kevin’s grandkids encounter….that they will be gracious and make these kids feel at ease. Praying for all involved in that situation, that there will be peace and that they will hear what is the right path.

Praying as I begin the day….for God’s voice to be strong in our hearts today and the other noise to be quiet. Praying for Easter to begin to stir in our hearts. For our ability to understand the sacrifice of Good Friday and the joy of resurrection. Praying that the days we have leading up to this celebration will prepare our hearts to worship.

  65. This has been a good morning of exploring articles on Lent, and of praying…glad for it!

jlo…what’s happening with your job? Did you decide to take the position…I’m thinking you turned it down, but I can’t remember…

THinking of the Justice Conference as well and all the preparation happening…

And now off to play with a little girl ;)

  66. Update: Mom is doing good after surgery yesterday and is going home today. The doc thinks they got all of it out, but will have to wait a few days before they know for sure if she will need chemo.

    Thanks to everyone who prayed!

  67. Papias, good to know your mom is doing well, and was able to go home. Continuing to pray….

  68. Sarah, i did turn down the job…… they counter offered. I took it. That’s the short version. I will post more later, just too tired to put it all into words this evening.

  69. jlo…praying that it turns out to be a blessing, I know you said the place was a little wacky.

Papias…so very glad that things went well. Praying that they did get it all and she might be spared the chemo.

My uncle passed away last night. He had been struggling with Alzheimer’s for a few years now. I can’t remember how many…I know we’ve been in the thick of things with my mom for almost 3 years now and he was “slipping” before that.

He was a gentle and quiet man and loved his dogs. White German Shepherds. I honestly didn’t know him as well as my other uncle, but still feel a great sorrow for his passing. Maybe it is simply that it is another guardian gone from my mothers family…there were four siblings and she is now the last. She, of course, cannot comprehend who he was or how she knew him.

Feeling weary with the weight of our frailty tonight….

  70. Sarah, praying

  71. i have a praise that i finished the book on the lives of my godly maternal grandparents – self published and sold a copy, too (suspect it was my cousin  ) . . . been under anesthetic twice in the last 6 months (minor problems), so am not too sure how clear my mind was/is – however, God really impressed upon me to record their lives for their great grandchildren (it took Him a while (years) to get thru to me that He really meant it)
